The artist Silke Schoener invited me to exhibit with her at Galerie Freitag 18.30 in Aachen. From our inspiring exchange, the following works have emerged, which are presented side by side on one wall in the exhibition.
I am showing pieces from my series “Plants from My Mother’s Forest”, which is part of the larger body of work In My Mother’s Forest. In this series, I press plants collected from my mother’s forest and sew them onto transparent foil, which is then cast in resin.
Fine red threads connect the individual leaves into a delicate web that reveals the forest’s interconnectedness, mutual dependence, and underlying structures. The red stitching evokes a living cycle, emphasizing the continuous interplay of nature.
For the first time, I see these works as a kind of “fragments” of my mother’s forest that I am sending out into the world.
Through my artistic practice, created in or inspired by my mother’s forest, I seek to explore both the ecological diversity of this woodland and its spiritual and mythological dimensions: the relationship between humans and nature, the transformation of landscapes, and the transmission of knowledge across generations.

Silke Schoener has translated one of my works into painting, capturing the play of shadow and light reflections in her piece “Flimmern der Wirklichkeit“ (eng. Flicker of Reality).
